Microsoft has launched its new operating system, Windows 8, to the Nigerian market. Microsoft launched the Windows 8 during its Open Door event in Lagos, showing qualities and exciting features of the operating system – which can be used on PCs and handheld devices. Windows 8 has been getting mixed reviews globally, and has prodded Microsoft to enter into the hardware market with a tablet PC – Surface.
Speaking at the Microsoft Open Door event, the Country Manager of Microsoft Nigeria, Emmanuel Onyeje , said, “Every aspect of Windows has been completely redesigned from chipsets to user interface” and he expects that Nigeria will transition to Windows 8 fast enough. Microsoft’s Windows operating system still has the highest market share globally, but faces rising competition from Apple iOS.
