Nigeria Defeats Zambia 1:0 to Qualify for Russia 2018

The game is not all about ‘talk’ afterall as the Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated the Chipolopolo of Zambia by a close-run after a very firece duel at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, to finish the game at 1:0. Zambia made good on their threats in the first half and made it very hard for the Eagles, throbbing the Nigerian side with unfruitful attacks, ending the first half in a goalless stalemate. The Super Eagles in the second half picked up the pace, keeping the Chipolopolo at bay and within a few minutes offset the game statistics with a goal from substitute Alex Iwobi. The Arsenal forward scored in the 73rd minute of the game after a goal brawl in which Wilfred Ndidi and Simon Moses failed to convert. The Zambians tried to equalize, but the Eagles stood their ground ending the game at 1:0 on the 94’ minute. This victory has made Nigeria the first African country to qualify for the 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP in Russia. Also on top of the Group B CAF World Cup Qualifiers table with an inviolable 13 points, 6 points ahead of Zambia with only one round of games to go. Nigeria for a record sixth time will be at the FIFA World Cup finals to join Russia (host), Brazil, Germany, Belgium, England, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and some others who have also booked their places at next year’s tournament in Russia.
