Nigeria At 60 Award Postponed By The Federal Government

  The Nigerian government has announced the postponement of Nigeria at 60 awards which was initially scheduled to hold on Friday, September 3, 2021. This information was made public on Sunday, August 29, 2021, via an official statement by the Nigerian Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief Adeniyi Adebayo, through his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Ifedayo Sayo. Chief Adebayo disclosed that the award is a part of the country’s Jubilee celebrations of its Independence, aimed at honouring 60 Nigerians who have made immense contributions to the growth and development of the nation since the attainment of Independence from British colonial masters on October 1, 1960.

However, the minister regretted the inconveniences caused by the postponement of the public and stakeholders and noted that a new date for the event would soon be announced. The special award ceremony was organized by the Ownership Subcommittee of the Nigeria@60 Committee, in collaboration with `Say It Loud Limited’ media and digital communication company, under the chairmanship of the minister. Since the attainment of Independence in 1960, Nigeria has gone on to establish itself among other African nations as a strong force economically, politically, and in every sphere of life. It is not out of place for the government to honour individuals that have made sacrifices to position the country as a continental power.
