Punch Newspapers

Following Nigeria’s absence in the ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN, a tournament for professional footballers based in Africa), ex-Nigerian international, Henry Nwosu has charged the Nigeria Football Federation to set up a technical team with the main task of discovering quality talents in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) that would qualify Nigeria for the next CHAN and dominate African football.
Read more about Sports   In the past, the Nigerian national team was dominated by home-based players, but recently, professionals abroad get more favour from national team selectors. Henry Nwosu believes something is wrong with the system and must be timely addressed to ensure Nigeria reclaims her place at the top of African football.
‘I am really sad that the Home Based Super Eagles are not in the 2021 Africa Nations Champions in Cameroon despite the availability of talents that we have in our football league. At this point, I think the Nigeria Football Federation must deploy a strong technical team that will help the coaches in scouting for quality talents in our league.’ Henry Nwosu
