More people than just a few think players in the NBA were always as good as they are today. Perhaps, they probably were born with such amazing gifts, so hitting, the big leagues came easy. This is not exactly so though. As much as people can be born with a natural flair for something, growing it and being the best at it is totally a decision that requires a whole lot of work, determination and sacrifice.
One of such examples is NBA Timberwolves man, Josh Okogie who was drafted with the 20th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Georgia Tech. He had to lay it all down and work for his chance. At the end of his high school days, the player was not even a top 150 prospect. However, he was very determined and committed to be where he is today.
Okogie did not let the negative comments about him get in the way of his dreams as he put in all he could to becoming NBA worthy. Now when his name is mentioned in any locker room, the next words that follow are “that kid is a great defender.”
The 19-year old averaged the second most steals per game in the ACC, using his athleticism and energy to stay in front of his defenders and snatch the ball from his opponents. When you need a lockdown on your defense, get Okogie in there. For a rebound, especially on the offensive glass, Okogie is the go-to guy. He has averaged 4.0 rebounds per game using his great athleticism to drive the ball back into the net.
Another really cool thing Okogie can do is score!! He shot 38-percent from 3-points and averaged 18.2 points per game at Georgia Tech.
