Welcome to February!
It’s the month of love, or so they say. Talking about love, our first video of the week is about the love of God and the joy and peace it brings.
Davina Oriakhi – Juju
The song is titled ‘Juju’ by London-based Nigerian singer and poet, Davina Oriakhi.
Davina, awardee of the Choice Female Artist at the Nigerian Teen Choice Awards 2016 is known for switching between genres – Hip Hop, Afro-pop, Soul, R&B, Reggae and Jazz without losing her uniqueness.
The song, ‘Juju’ was one of her singles released in 2017, three years into her music career. However, it took another two years to release the video for the song, and I dare say it was worth the wait.
It was written by Davina and the video was mostly self-funded, with donations also coming through from fans and friends via GoFundMe. It was directed, shot and edited by Samara Addai.
Humblesmith – Report My Case ft. Rudeboy
‘Report My Case’ is another song of gratitude to God. It is one of the tracks off Humble Smith’s ‘Osinachi’ album. It features Rudeboy of the defunct P-Square.
Humblesmith’s life’s story is a remarkable one, from working menial jobs in Asaba, Delta State, he joined the entertainment industry, featuring in a few movies before focusing on music. His big break didn’t come until his chart-topping single ‘Osinachi’ in 2015. Since then, he has been a household name in the industry.
The song is his ‘Thank You’ song to God for blessing him and the transformation that has occurred in his life. ‘Report My Case’ is directed by Clarence Peters.
