It’s a season of conscious songs, many drawing attention of Nigerian citizens to their civic responsibility to choose good leadership. Some of these videos made it into our list of favorites this week.

Vote Not For Sale –  2Baba Ft Teni, MI Abaga, Waje & Cohbams Asuquo

‘Vote Not For Sale’ admonishes young Nigerians to vote their conscience this upcoming elections. It features a host of incredible artistes, including Teni and Cobhams Asuquo.

No Shishi 4 Bribe – 2Baba, Simi, Falz, Mr P, Timi Dakolo, Slimcase & Others

Much like ‘Vote Not For Sale’, ‘No Shishi 4 Bribe’ reminds voters that their vote is their voice.

Why – Victor AD and Erigga

Perhaps his most popular song yet has been the 2018 hit single ‘Wetin We Gain’, in which he sang about his desperation for wealth and the finer things of life.

In ‘Why’, Victor reminds us that it is our duty to change a system that has failed to deliver, and that we can do so with our votes.

The afro-pop singer’s music is influenced by the likes of King Sunny Ade, and Lucky Dube, is currently signed to the Ghanaian record label, Etins Records.

‘Why’ was directed by Dindu.

Vote Not Fight – 2baba

‘Vote Not Fight’ is a product of The 2face Foundation’s campaign for non-violent elections in 2015, however the message in the song is as relevant today as it was then.

Naija Jungle – Sound Sultan

Sound Sultan’s rather hilarious video for Naija Jungle paints a picture of a society in which “Monkey dey work and baboon dey chop”. The theme of the video is inspired by Fela’s earlier work, and the video shows scenes shot in the Kalakuta Museum, Ikeja, Lagos.
