MTN has officially commenced cloud services in Nigeria, after adopting its Cloud Service Brokerage model in December of 2012. The telecommunications firm started a trial of its cloud pilot program in December, and are now going live with the service in Nigeria and Ghana.
The service would be useful for SMEs deploying cloud technologies and would also allow corporations more coordination with their data in the cloud. Elaborating on the advantages of this, head of MTN Group Enterprise Business Unit, Farhad Khan, said that, “What the pilot project confirmed is that our offerings are on the mark. There is great appetite for ICT solutions that are relevant, customised and affordable.
“SMEs are looking to technology service providers such as MTN to bring them world-class tools that improve their business efficiencies. MTN Cloud offers exactly that.”
MTN cloud services include, Office Desktop, an email and collaborative software; Mozypro, a back-up service to manage files and servers; and Dialcom, an on-demand video conferencing service.
