  Nigerian model legend, Davidson on the runway From an Instagram model who captured the attention of fans and a modelling agency, Beth Model Africa, to being the first man of color in 33 years to win Elite Model Look World Final in campo pequeno Lisbon, portugal, the legend, Davidson Obennebo.

Davidson Obennebo, the 6’2.5′ model was born in March 1996 in Nigeria. He is the only child of his parents from Enugu-Ukwu in Anambra state, Nigeria though he was born, raised and lived in Lagos, Nigeria. He was in his final year, 400 level at Bells university, a private university in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria studying International business when he was scouted by Beth Model Africa agents, who sent him an Instagram DM inviting him to attend an open casting, a collaborative casting held with Nigerian menswear designer, Tokyo James.  Speaking on how he was scouted in an interview with Model life, he said,                   ‘I got scouted by Beth Model management. I was still a new face, and I was still in school and they said, ‘why not give it a try? If it doesn’t happen, that’s OK. ‘I was scouted by Beth on Instagram, I was in school and they had a competition with a Nigerian designer, he was looking for new faces for his new campaign, so if you wanted to enter, you had to post a picture on your Instagram and tag him and Beth models. I was joking when I was posting, so I was like the guy you are looking for is right here’ and they got in touch and invited me to apply.’ Davidson when he won EML at the national level After his shoot for Toyko he went on to compete in the Aquafina Elite model look Nigeria in 2016 where he won at National level, and then the World Finals, where he emerged as the global winner of Elite Model Look in 2016, making him the first black model to ever win elite globally since 33 years of operation. Davidson and colleagues at the bootcamp in Lisbon for EML In an interview with Adebimpe Adebambo, she asked Davidson what went through his mind when his country and name was called as the winner of the 2016 competition. Replying her, he said,            ‘I thought I was dreaming because I never thought of it happening as I was also the only black person among the final 15 made up of 5 boys and 10 girls’. After he won the competition on 23rd November, 2016, Davidson’s career skyrocketed. He has worked with both local and international brands like Issey Miyake, Balmain, DSquared2, Givenchy, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Mai Atafo, Moschino, Bugatchi, Brooks Brothers, rocawear and others.

Davidson says he plans on finishing his education as he believes that education is key, and it is much needed despite his level of success, as there are paths he will need his educational qualification to navigate.
