Mo Abudu is a household name in Nigeria and is slowly gaining fame in the international circles for her outstanding achievements in Nigeria. She was recognized on the 1st of June 2014 at the convocation ceremony of one the most prestigious universities in Nigeria, Babcock University with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (HonorisCausa) Award. She received this award alongside another great achiever, the current minister of Finance, Dr. NgoziOkonjo-Iweala who bagged the Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development (HonorisCausa).
It is laudable that successful women are being honoured. Mo Abudu’s contributions to the media and entertainment industry cannot be swept under the carpet. She has created programs like The Debaters and Moments with Mo, started the Inspire Africa Foundation and is the first African woman to own a continent-wide TV channel, EbonyLife Television, which is telling a story of a new Africa and our great country Nigeria.
Abudu is also an HR Management Consultant and Venture Capitalist, and a role model to young women Africa wide. Her slogan is ‘if you can think it, then you can do it! And she is doing it; she has received numerous awards abroad including the Forbes Award for The First Woman in Africa to own and operate a pan-African TV Channel.The Hollywood Reporter listed her as one of The 25 Most Powerful Women in Global TV, and New African Magazine recognised her as one of the 100 most influential Africans.
