Mikel Ready For The Next Challenge After Boro Exit

Super Eagles skipper and former Chelsea man, Mikel Obi, has concluded his contractual stay with English Championship club, Middlesbrough, and the player is looking forward to the next challenge as he plans his exit.
On Sunday, Mikel played his last game for Boro and scored his first goal for the team in their 2-1 win against Rotherham United. However, the win was not enough to book Boro a champions play-off spot.
The 31-year old who was a free agent after he left Chinese side, Tianjin TEDA, is prepared for the next phase of his career, and he is open to several options as he stated in an interview with BBC Tees Sport.
When asked if Sunday’s game was his last for the English side, Mikel replied,
“I don’t know, you can never say never. My contract ends, if there’s a conversation, okay fine. It’s a great club, it’s a big club. They will find the right players, get that dressing room back and make sure next season they are in the playoffs or automatic promotion.
“I don’t know, we’ll see what happens. I have conversation with my people and then we’ll see what comes out, options here and there.
Mikel appears to want to win more titles and his next club choice will be greatly influenced by his drive to life more cups.
“I still want to win trophies, I’ll go somewhere where the players, the team, the fans, the staff, want to win.” Mikel added.
