Raising leaders and role models
The pastor, a native of Odo-Ere, Yagba-West Local Government Area in Kogi State, Nigeria, was born on
February 3rd, 1967. He is a motivational speaker and is passionate about
raising leaders and role models – the motto of the church he oversees – and positioning people for success in their various fields.
He hosts a radio program and television show,
Success Power, which airs on both local and international stations. He is also the President of
Daystar Leadership Academy (DLA) and
Daystar Business Academy (DBA).
There is a saying by Sam Adeyemi:
“Behind every success and achievement lies plenty stories to tell.”
Presiding over a mega church running five services every Sunday and a worship service on Saturdays for those who cannot attend church service on Sunday, he never ceases to recount how his life turned around for the best.
The Beginning
Sam Adeyemi went into full-time ministry, pastoring under Rev. George Adegboye of
Rhema Chapel, Kwara State. His younger brother, Victor Adeyemi, who is now the Senior Pastor of Global Harvest Church, Ibadan, was also a minister at Rhema Chapel. He met his wife, Nike, while serving at Rhema Chapel.
Pastor Sam recounts the struggles he and his wife were faced with in their early years together. It was during this trying time that God revealed where his solution lies to him. In addition to establishing his own ministry, Daystar Christian Centre, he was to teach people how to get wealth.
Hence, on November 18, 1995, Daystar Christian Centre was inaugurated and the first service was held at the Eko Chinese Hotel on Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos. The churc,h worth billions of naira now, at the early stage, could not afford to pay its rent many times. When Sam Adeyemi could not afford the rent at Allen Avenue, the church was moved to Coker Village, Alausa, and later to 71, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun. The church still uses the building at Oregun till date.
In 1995,
Pneuma Publishing Limited, an information resource management company was established. The company was born out of the passion for books and information. Pioneered by his wife, Nike, she sold books that had aided her growth and development in the course of her life. This, she did in their living room.
This single act, encouraged by her husband, inspired him to write,
Start with What You Have. The company outgrew their living room and a shop was acquired. Now, the publishing house, Pneuma Publishing House, is the sole publisher of Sam Adeyemi books and messages.
Children
He established
Role Model School in September 2001, a school that values education and seeks to inculcate excellence in all areas of the children’s lives.
Every year, Sam Adeyemi’s ministry fetes between 5,000 and 12,000 school children in a
Back to School initiative. The initiative, which has been in tradition for over 20 years, provides school items such as bags, sandals, writing materials (books, pens, and pencils), and water bottle, amongst others to the under privileged.
Adults are also beneficiaries. Daystar Business Academy is a free business training that helps prospective entrepreneurs move from “Idea to Business Plan”. At this training, participants are taught the basics of entrepreneurship and how to write a business plan.
