Mark Zuckerberg In Nigeria: First Visit To Africa

Mark Zuckerberg at CcHub, Lagos

MARK Zuckerberg, co-founder and CEO of the biggest social-networking website, Facebook, as well as one of the world’s youngest billionaires is in Nigeria.

He just finished his visit to Rome with his wife, and it’s been confirmed that he arrived earlier this afternoon and has been scheduled to meet with certain key players of the Nigerian Tech sphere. He has also been sighted at the Co-Creation Hub Yaba according to Red Media Africa.

There has been a lot of buzz about various partnerships and projects in Nigeria supported by Facebook. To begin with, there is a developers conference organized by Facebook scheduled to hold tomorrow, the 31st of August, 2016. There has also been information of a Facebook partnership with Cool Link to launch Express Wi-Fi, a new program that lets phone owners purchase high-speed data at an affordable rate, in Nigeria. Also, Mark has shown a keen interest in the Jobberman team and will hopefully visit them too as well as the Andela team in which the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative invested $24 million.

Mark is also set to meet up with the Nigerian government to discuss issues of policy to move Facebook forward. So we expect more Facebook involvement in Nigerian Tech Ecosystem.
