The Insurance Group of The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Premier Chamber of Commerce and one of the leading voices in the organized private sector (OPS) in Nigeria is set to hold its annual symposium on Wednesday 31
st May, 2017. The symposium, which is scheduled to hold at the LCCI Conference and Exhibition Centre, 1, Nurudeen Olowopopo Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos is borne out of the urgent need to stimulate growth-generating activities and the penetration of Insurance amongst the least-reached in the informal sector.
According to the organizers, the theme of the symposium is Increasing Insurance Penetration, Reaching the Un-reached and will be chaired by the President of the Chamber, Dr. Mrs. Nike Akande, CON.
Muda Yusuf, Director General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said: “The objective of the symposium is to create awareness for greater penetration and acceptance of Insurance amongst the least reached in the informal sector, such as members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Market Women, Artisans, AKOMORAN (Tricycle and Okada Riders) and students. This is in line with NAICOM’s objective of growing the retail segment of the Insurance market.”
Muda Yusuf further added that seasoned professionals, experienced operators, companies, institutions, organizations, regulatory bodies and major stakeholders in the Insurance sector are expected to attend the symposium. Others include stakeholders such as House of Representatives Committee on Insurance and Lagos State Government officials.
The Chairman of the LCCI Insurance Group, Mr. Gboyega Olanbiwoninu said that “the group has put together this event to enlighten the general public on the benefits of insurance policies and the various options available to them irrespective of their financial status.
