Lagos Set to Create Security Database for Religious Organisations

The Lagos State Government will soon embark on a data collation process; collecting data from all mosques and churches in the state, in partnership with the umbrella bodies of these religious organisations. This is for the purpose of ensuring security in worship centres across Lagos. The development was announced at a stakeholders meeting with executives from the Muslim Association of Nigeria and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, also cited the establishment of a religious volunteer scheme comprising worshippers from both groups to function as first emergency responders during disasters. This will greatly compliment the government’s efforts in the regard of security, he believes.   Source: The Nation
