Lagos Fashion Week, also known as  LagosFW is a fashion platform created for Nigerians and Africans at large to bring the fashion industry together. During the programme, the stakeholders that constitute the large ocean of the fashion industry come together. During the show, designers show their collections to other designers, buyers/consumers and to the media. Lagos was chosen for the event because it is undoubtedly the biggest fashion hub in Nigeria. The fashion event is to unite, strengthen and bond the fashion industry. The organizers’ long term goal is to make fashion an important sector in the nation’s economy. This event this year, Woven Threads will re-address the importance and advantages to always consistently practice within the industry in order to improve the growth of circular value cycles, with a focus on efficient social and economic growth models.  This year’s edition will talk more about the circularity in the fashion ecosystem and discuss extensively the importance of technology in helping sustainable practices and improving the lifecycle of garments.  The topics that will be discussed are: rentals, metaverse, NFTs and buying digital fashion. The showcase will highlight designers that take into account both environmental and socio-economic sustainable practices that address the issues of landfill and over-consumerism such as: NKWO, Lagos Space Programme, Maxhosa, Shem Paronelli, Maliko, amongst others.

For the first time ever, the Green Access 2022 cohort will also be present to showcase at this year’s edition of Woven Threads. Green Access aims to inspire young creatives to consciously begin to explore sustainable ways of achieving their creative goals while simultaneously discovering new talent. One of the core focus of the Green access is sustainability. Launched for the first time, at the SS22 showcase in October, 2021 – the blockchain enabled Swap Shop is back in collaboration with Fru Girls and Global Fashion Exchange. Putting into practice the foundations of a circular economy that prioritizes reuse, reduce & recycle, The Swap Shop initiative invites consumers to think about the ways they can effect change with their own buying choices by facilitating the exchange of pre-owned items through swapping, sharing, donating and resale. Lagos Fashion Week will be leveraging technology to speak to the future of sustainable fashion in Africa with interactive video presentations, live studio tours, static fashion installations, salons, workshops, and fashion films showcasing the future of fashion beyond creativity. Woven Threads III is an initiative of Style House Files & Lagos Fashion Week. It is supported by Lush Hair, and TECNO.
