In a match that could be regarded as a ‘grade A’ friendly match between our Super eagles who were richly dominated by the local players and the Peruvians from South America saw our Eagles emerge at the losing end of the score line; there are lots of positives which could be picked from the match which was played in a high altitude area.
Before now, this set of locally groomed Eagles have come under severe criticism both from the media and some ex internationals who have claimed that the local players are not experienced enough to represent the country at the global stage.
Though these set of players may not have the perfection, accuracy and technical ‘know how’ of the foreign pros, which was evident in the friendly against Peru, they have proved that they possess the will and dexterity to play for their country; after all ‘Rome was not built in a day’. They can only get better if they continue to train together. We should allow the end to justify the means.
