Fresh from an outstanding performance in the ongoing World Cup in Brazil, Kenneth Omeruo has received applause and he has been tipped to replace John Terry in the Jose Mourinho-coached team, Chelsea FC.
Chelsea is so pleased with the performance of Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo at the World Cup that they may not ship him out on loan anymore, says his adviser.
“Chelsea is very pleased with Kenneth’s performance in Brazil. They said they’ve seen he has the ability to play straight with the Chelsea ‘A’ team therefore they may not let him go on loan when he comes back,” he disclosed.
“He was not jittery against some of the world’s top strikers, he showed courage. The ball is now in his court to take his chance at Chelsea.”
The highly-rated central defender has twice been shipped out on loan, first to Dutch club ADO Den Haag and recently to Middleborough in the English Championship.
A delighted Chika Akujobi said that Omeruo could well be thrown into the deep end by the English Premier League club in the forthcoming season after they kept tabs on the youngster in Brazil.
Football expert Akujobi also praised the Super Eagles for reaching the knockout stage of Brazil 2014, while stressing that there is still a lot of room for improvement.
“The team didn’t do too badly in Brazil, they gave all they could.” I heard many comments, some positive and some negative, but that’s football for you everywhere in the world. I can understand the feelings of some Nigerian fans,” he said.
With an impressive loan spell in Middleborough coupled with an eye-catching performance at the biggest stage like the World Cup, Omeruo possesses what is needed to replace the Chelsea leader and legend.
