Nigerian football legend, Nwankwo Kanu, has charged the Super Eagles to go all out and make a big statement when they confront the Selecao of Brazil in an international friendly scheduled to hold on October 13, 2019 in Singapore.
The Gernot Rohr tutored side will be up against the five-time world champions at the National Stadium, Singapore and Kanu believes the game is a platform for the Eagles to prove their class.
[Brazil is] one of the best, and those are the kind of friendlies we should be playing. I say thanks to whoever has made this possible… Playing against Brazil will show the level of football they are playing and where they are, and if they can beat Brazil, the confidence and belief of the boys will grow…And for me, it’s always tough when Nigeria and Brazil play each other, whoever will represent us should know it’s not a friendly game.
Nwankwo Kanu
It will be recalled that Kanu masterminded Nigeria’s victory over the South American side in the semi-final of the men’s soccer event at the 1996 Olympic Games held in the United States. Kanu captained the Nigerian side that went on to beat Argentina in the final match and win Gold for Nigeria. This time, the Arsenal FC of England legend is retired but will be cheering from the stands and hoping his heroics in 1996 will be replicated by the Nigerian team.
