There is an unofficial buzz that Jumia is unifying its brand by closing Jumia Market.
Jumia Market is a platform that bridges the gap between local fashion designers and their buyers earlier this year. It’s a social fashion community that gives popularity to local products. It has the same mode as Jumia mall except for its struggle to differentiate itself as a platform that sells only indigenous products. Jumia is the major investor in Jumia Market. In May 2017, the market switched from electronics to a fashion market, as they hoped to be the “new Instagram of e.commerce.”
The company has sent an official email to all its users, and they have been advised to move to the official Jumia account, as they are acknowledged to be members of the online shopping platform hence can keep their username and passwords.
The website is however still live, but an unconfirmed report of the staffs of Jumia Market will be moved to the mall while others would be retrenched.
Fingers are crossed as we hope to show more information as the stories unfold.
