It’s another new month and the year is fast winding up in an accelerated manner. In spite of this, there are numerous opportunities that have been released and will be released this month irrespective of where you are in the tech ecosystem. The only lucky people who would get these opportunities are those who take the first step in trying, applying, attending and learning as much as they can to personally develop themselves.
In this month of September, we will be looking at various opportunities, deals, news and the history of some companies, hubs or tools in the tech space.
First in the month which we will be looking at is an amazing opportunity provided by a collaboration between Jumia and Techpoint for techpreneurs to meet with Andre Iguodala.
Andre Iguodala was born to a Nigerian father and an African American mother. He is an American basketball player, Silicon Valley investor with investments in Facebook, Twitter and Tesla and recently joined Jumia’s board of directors on March 2019. The 35-year-old National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar is a proponent of athletes’ participation and investment in technology and has headlined The Players Technology Summit sponsored by Bloomberg for 2 years in a row. The celebrity and tech investor is set to be hosted in Nigeria in an interactive session organized by Jumia and Techpoint.
According to the report, Andre Iguodala is no stranger to technology, startups, and investing in these sectors. The NBA star has invested in at least 40 different startups over the years with his investment portfolio including high profile tech companies like Twitter, Facebook, Tesla, Zoom and a host of others.
Techpoint in conjunction with Jumia would be hosting an interactive session with Andre Iguodala and some techpreneurs in Nigeria on September 11th. The session is themed, “Moving from zero to growth” which is aimed at addressing issues around funding and investment for local startups. With his wealth of knowledge and experience in tech investment and promoting business development and technology in Africa, Andre Iguodala will be sharing his experience on how he has built his personal portfolio as an investor and further give insights on how local founders can position their business for growth.
This session with Andre Iguodala is particularly open to tech founders, local investors, hub owners and accelerators. Although the event is free to attend, Techpoint and Jumia will largely be involved in those who get selected to attend ultimately.
The event is scheduled to hold on September 11, 2019, by 12.00PM. The venue will be communicated to the successful applicants.
