Julius Agwu, Seyi Law, X3M Ideas Lead Campaign Against Gender Violence

A group of Nigerian comedians comprising Julius Agwu, Seyi Law, Owen G, Tee A and music artiste, Sound Sultan, have all joined Lagos-based creative agency, X3M ideas, in the agency’s pro-bono campaign in support of ‘Project Alert’, a non-governmental organization’s outcry against female brutality. The campaign, which is themed “Speak Up, End Abuse”, will see the celebrities tell the Project Alert story as they eulogise the feminine gender, extol her special contribution to the human race and how she should be treated with dignity and respect. Speaking on the campaign developed for print and online platforms, Steve Babaeko, the Chief Creative Officer and Chief Executive Officer of X3M Ideas, noted that brutality against women is a societal ill that is claiming the lives of many women in the society. “We saw value for the society in what Project Alert was doing and we decided to support them by creating this campaign as our own contribution to the good works.” Babaeko said. Julius Agwu’s copy reads; “Labour pain is the only pain she should feel” just as the comedian poses in the campaign poster as a pregnant woman. He sends a message that women should not be be treated with any form of pain besides the natural pain of child delivery. Owen Gee carries a copy with the inscription, “You can’t cover the truth with make-up” regarding the suffering many women endure in silence. Posing as a woman laden with too many tasks like, cooking, fetching water, washing amongst others, Seyi Law tells his story which reads “Being treated like a slave is not a joke”. Through these messages which aim at discouraging violence against women, men are urged not to be obnoxious in their treatment of women.
