Joe Boy Defeats Ghana’s Nukpe, Retains Lightweight Title

Nigerian lightweight boxer, Oto ‘Joe Boy’ Joseph, defeated his Ghanian contender, Nahtaniel Nukpe, to hang on to his African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight title during the GOtv Boxing Night 15 staged at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo state on Sunday 29th July.

Other fights that stole the night were, a lightweight challenge between top boxing characters like Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola, Prince ‘Lion’ Nwoye, Michael ‘Lion Heart’ Godwin, Idowu ‘ID Cabasa’ Okusote and Olaide ‘Fijaborn’ Fijabi. Prince ‘Lion’ Nwoye went against GOtv Boxing Night 13 second best boxer, Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola. Oyekola defeated the challenger and emerged the best boxer of the night to win ₦1 million. GOtv NextGen Search graduate, Michael ‘Lion Heart’ Godwin knocked out Idowu ‘ID Cabasa’ Okusote in a cruiserweight contest. In the Light Heavyweight contest, Daniel ‘Big Shark’ Emeka defeated Sulaimon ‘Olags’ Adeosun. ABU light welterweight champion, Olaide ‘Fijaborn’ Fijabi stood tall over Kazeem ‘Iberu’ Ariyo in a national challenge contest. In a spine-tingling fix, Akeem ‘Dodo’ Sadiku knocked out Republic of Benin’s Franc Houanevgbe in a middleweight challenge. Light welterweight bout between Vincent ‘Dada’ Essien and Segun ‘Show Boy’ Olalehin  was declared a no-contest.
