Iyinoluwa Aboyeji Launches Flutterwave

Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, co-founder of Andela, a social venture that trains Africans to be world class developers has reportedly bowed out from the firm. He is leaving to launch Flutterwave a platform that allows merchants to make and receive payments across multiple platforms.

In an email he sent to the Andela team, he said “despite all the entrepreneurial spirit and expertise in Lagos, businesses still have trouble conducting transactions that are an afterthought in most of the world, it’s a problem that is prohibitive to the future growth of the continent and one that I felt I could no longer ignore. So I decided to do something about it.”

According to reports, Flutterwave has been in private beta for weeks in Nigeria and Ghana, during this period it has made transactions to the tune of $20million, working with clients like Uber, Access Bank, Paystack and Page Microfinance. Flutterwave seems to have received undisclosed seed funding from Silicon Valley’s Y Combinators, South African CRE VC and VCFintech.

We wish Iyinoluwa Aboyeji the best in his new endeavour.
