Isaac Promise Dies aged 31

Former Super Eagles forward, Isaac Promise, has passed on at the age of 31. The former Olympic Eagles captain died on Wednesday, October 3, 2019 in the United State. Chairman of Promise’ US club side, Austin Bold FC, Bobby Epstein, announced the demise of one of the club’s star.

The former Genclerbirligi, and Trabzonspor striker was an unused substitute in Bold FC’s 2-1 away victory at Portland Timbers on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Late Promise captained Nigeria to the 2003 FIFA U17 World Cup held in Finland and also led the Nigerian team to the 2005 FIFA U20 World Cup in the Netherlands, where the Flying Eagles finished second after loosing to Argentina in the final. He would go on to captain the 2008 Olympic Eagles squad that won silver for the West African nation.

Prior to his death, Promise plied his trade with notable Turkish clubs like Genclerbirligi, Trabzonspor, Maniaspor, Belikesirspor, Karabukspor, Giresunspor. He also had stints in Saudi Arabia and the United States. The football world has taken to several media platforms to mourn the demise of the patriotic Nigerian.
