Nigeria’s U-20 star, Bernard Bulbwa has become a hot commodity following his performance at the just concluded African Youth Championship in Dakar, Senegal. Bulbwa came to prominence when his tremendous goal in the final secured the seventh AYC title for Nigeria in Senegal.
English Premier League clubs, Stoke City and Manchester City as well as Tunisian giants, Esperance are reportedly on the heels of the Nigerian youth international.
He is reportedly on the verge of joining Esperance from Shuttle Sports Academy for £1.6m. Esperance have made a quick move to secure the services of the youngster before FIFA U-20 World Cup which may see him attract more suitors.
However, Stoke City is trying to convince Bulbwa to change his mind and move to England instead.
Former Senegalese midfielder, Salif Diao scouted for Stoke City at the tournament and advised the club to make a move for the youngster. Diao admitted it is a herculean task for English clubs to sign the best young African players.
“If you spot a player for the UK market, it is almost impossible to sign them up because the law only allows the recruitment of international players who are eligible for a work permit.” He told Senegalese press.
“That’s why the tournament doesn’t hold much interest for English clubs.” He added.
