INTELS Graduates 11th Batch Of Women Empowerment Programme Scheme Synergy (WEPSS)

  Nigerian oil and gas logistics powerhouse, INTELS Nigeria Limited, has successfully graduated 34 Nigerian women of the 11th Batch of the company’s women development initiative, the Women Empowerment Programme Scheme Synergy (WEPSS).

The success of the 11th batch means that 1,500 Nigerian women are now beneficiaries of the organization’s women empowerment scheme. Established in 2013, WEPPS is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative introduced by INTELS Nigeria in a bid to empower 5,000 Nigerian women over a period of 20 years by training them in fashion design and tailoring. Beneficiaries of the program who are usually drawn from different parts of the country, undergo training in two batches every year. Participants enjoy intensive tuition-free training for four months, inclusive of free transportation to and from training venues, free medical services, and monthly stipends.

During the graduation ceremony of the 11th Batch at the Federal Lighter Terminal, Onne Port, Rivers State, INTELS’ Managing Director, Mr Pasquale Fiore, stated that the initiative is a great symbol of the collaborative efforts of trainers, participants, and the entire INTELS team. Fiore went further to commend the trainers and participants for their “resilience and determination,” and advised beneficiaries to make good use of the acquired skills to “earn a living and contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy”. In addition, Fiore who was represented by Dominic Onwujekwe, the company’s Human Resources Manager, noted that:
“This is one of our many empowerment schemes for the communities around us and we are very happy that over the years, so many people have graduated from this scheme and we are also aware that many of them are doing well.”
