  • Both platforms vary in video length. Whereas TikTok allows for up to 10-minutes uploads, Instagram Reels offers only 15, 39 and 60-seconds video lengths.
  • TikTok users can choose a wider range of sound options and audio materials, unlike Reels where business accounts are not allowed to use copyrighted music.
  • Social media demographics have pointed out how TikTok is particularly popular among Gen Z and teenagers more than Instagram
  • Instagram Reels is available to access in about 50 countries globally. However, in some other countries, TikTok is banned due to censorship laws.
  • Even though both platforms offer good advertising opportunities, TikTok emphasizes creator-based ads. On the flipside, Instagram Reels Is predominantly for traditional ads.
  • Both platforms’ growth is apparently bringing to recognize the importance of the short-form video content style which was previously ignored.
