Super Eagles and Leicester City forward, Wilfred Ndidi, has put to rest the uncertainties in the hearts of fans concerning his injury and recovery.

In an interview with Complete Sports, Ndidi told the media team that the injury he sustained while in action for Leicester City in their match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on April 28 was not as serous as journalists made it seem.

The truth about the injury I suffered against Crystal Palace was that for 24 hours after the game, we were not quite sure of the severity as we were waiting for Monday to do a scan… Because there was no medical update, we kept quiet about the injury and I guess that was what people capitalized on to insinuate all sorts of things. After the first test revealed a hamstring strain, I was asked to do another one to confirm the extent of the injury and for the doctors to determine for how long I would be out for. They told me I would be out for only a few days and then I would  need to recuperate with everything not more than few weeks but certainly not the six weeks that I read in the papers.

All through the period, the medical team of Leicester City and those of the Super Eagles were in constant communication and I believe if I’m not fit to play I wouldn’t have been cleared by Leicester to come to camp.”

— Ndidi

The 21-year-old stated that if journalists had contacted the right sources, in this case the Super Eagles medical team, they would have had the right information since the Nigeria national team was in close contact with Leicester on the progress of his recovery.
