Infinix is on a roll with its iterative product releases this year, with the Infinix Note 5, Hot 6 and Smart 2 phones already making waves. The company has steadily delivered decent spec phones at decent prices. And only recently, the Infinix Hot S3X was launched as the upgrade to last year’s Infinix Hot S3.
The new smartphone pushes the limits of display space by adding the display notch to allow for a higher screen to body ratio. The notched display has been trending all year on premium flagship devices. While some OEMs are doing it right (OnePlus, Apple), some are getting it all wrong (photo leaks of the Google pixel 3xl show a horrendous notch), and some companies are just not willing to join the bandwagon (Samsung).
Well, Infinix has taken a seat on the notch board of execs, and their implementation looks decent. However, there’s an unpleasant bottom bezel that will ultimately ruin the full display experience that could have been.
Spec wise, the new device comes with a 6.2” HD+ IPS LCD display with 1500 x 720 resolution, Snapdragon 480 octacore CPU, 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage with micros up to 128gb. A dual camera (13MP + 2MP with LED flash) sits vertically at the back of the phone alongside a fingerprint scanner and the Infinix logo.
The display notch houses the 16MP selfie camera, speaker and LED flash. It’s got a good 4000mAh battery, Dual microSD with 4G LTE, and ships with Android 8.1 Oreo with Android One.
The device is available in Black, Blue, and Gray colours and goes for about ₦64000.
