Nigerian basketball star, Ike Diogu has been snapped up by the New York Knicks. The 31-year old forward signing was announced by the New York based club on Friday.
Diogu has had a nomadic career since being picked by Golden State Warriors as the ninth overall draft in 2005.
He’s also played for Indiana Pacers, Portland Trailblazers, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs before moving to Puerto Rico and later China.
Diogu has found it hard to replicate the form he showed in his debut season in which he averaged 7.0 points and 3.3 rebounds a game while shooting 52.4 percent. He has since averaged 6.0 points in 225 games in his six seasons.
His performance for D’Tigers at the 2012 London Olympics saw him earn a contract with the Phoenix Suns but was released before the league started. He was also a leading scorer in the recently concluded 2013 Afrobasket Championships held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
