Russia 2018: Iceland’s Skulason Not Afraid Of “Africa’s Best” Nigeria

Turkish club Karabükspor midfielder Olafur Skulason is very upbeat about facing Nigeria in the World Cup tournament in June. The Icelandic player is very confident that his side will pick up points against Nigeria and qualify for the knockout stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 34 year old player will feature for his home country Iceland who will be making a first ever appearance at the FIFA World Cup as they face off the two others (Argentina and Croatia) drawn into Group D alongside Nigeria. Iceland will face the Super Eagles on Friday, 22nd June at the Volgograd Arena, Volgograd in Russia. Skulason told tgrthaber.com.tr “Nigeria are the best team in Africa at the moment, they are very, very strong. It is a very difficult group but I’m pretty confident we can pick up points and our goal is to qualify, to be in the top two places, that’s 100 per cent our goal and we believe we can and we’ll see how it goes” “It’s going to be great. Of course, we know ourselves – we can win against Croatia, we know that. We’ve done it and we played them so many times, it’s getting boring now. But they are a very good team of course and we have to be on top of our game to do it.” He concluded.
