Head coach of the Nigerian national team, Gernot Rohr, has expressed his desire to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon with the Super Eagles after leading the West African side to victory over Benin Republic ( 2-1) in their first group game in the qualifiers phase on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Rohr’s future with the Eagles has been subject to much debate with the German tactician’s contract set to expire by June 2020, and the Nigerian Football Federation have been slow to opening negotiations over an extension. The Super Eagles boss is willing to remain in charge of the three-time African champions and was full of excitement after Wednesday’s victory.
I’m happy with the result, to come back and win. Good to see competitions among the players…It will be exciting for me to win the 2021 AFCON title with Nigeria. That’s my desire, and I will be the most excited. So, winning today is just the beginning. I can’t be excited until we win the title in 2021
