When we think about beauty, we don’t necessarily think about our armpits, that hollow spot, under the arm, at our shoulder, a place we consider unpleasant. Our underarms are ignored in our beauty therapy and left often times to darken.
For many, applying deodorants and shaving is all too caring for this sensitive part of our body. Every girl, including me, loves her strapless gowns and spaghetti tops, but sometimes our dark underarms stop us from wearing them. Imagine the smooth elegant look of pageants and foreign celebrities, or better still, those models that advertise deodorants, if wishes were horses really.
Do you know that your
armpits or underarms are no longer as beautiful as they can be, as a result of shaving, hair removal creams, excess sweating? Also, the accumulation of dead skin, friction, deodorants, antiperspirants and a host of others.
Just so you know, the armpit is more sensitive than other parts of the body, they are packed with a high concentration of nerves and lymph nodes that absorb substances directly into our bloodstream.
Ways of Clearing for Your Armpits
-
Exfoliate your skin with sugar and olive oil:
Remember the accumulated dead skin cells we discussed earlier, yes, it’s essential you get rid of them by exfoliating your skin before you begin to use the homemade remedies. Exposure of skin to the sun or using alcohol-containing products on it can give our armpits the dark look that makes it appear really dirty. Visit
our page for more homemade exfoliation remedies.
Rinse your armpits with
fresh lemon juice to reduce the excessive order caused by sweating, lemon juice contains properties that can help cleanse your skin naturally. Note that you should apply only at night to prevent it from being exposed to sunlight. You can simply rub or apply the lemon juice on the areas you want it on, leave it on for half an hour and rinse with warm water or for better result add a little rose-water.
Coconut oil is good for the skin, plus it’s super moisturizing. It can help soften your skin, remove the dead cells and leaves you with a pleasant smell. To apply: Just rub a little coconut oil on your armpits daily.
-
Simple potatoes for gorgeous armpits:
Potatoes are surely magical when it comes to dealing with the armpits, they contain enzymes and antioxidants that can help brighten the skin under your arms and gently help exfoliate your armpit’s delicate skin. Simply cut 2 half-inch thick slices of a potato and gently massage each of your armpits with them for three minutes. Wait a few minute after massaging before you rinse with cool water and dry with a clean cloth. Repeat twice daily.
-
Avoid wearing tight clothes:
Your armpits are daily pleading with you to allow them to breathe, wearing tightly fitted clothes around your arm would definitely not help you win their trust. Tight fitting and synthetic fabrics may irritate the armpits and intensify the sweating process.
-
Give your armpit a break:
If our armpits had lips, what will they say? Our armpits are the most sensitive area of our body and recognizing this very important fact would allow us to give them more opportunity to relax. Applying deodorant to the skin after shaving can be very irritating, wait at least ten minutes for your skin to relax before putting on your deodorant or just shave before going to bed as this would allow your skin to rest overnight.
This would probably come after flossing one’s teeth. Bacteria are very likely to grow in unwashed armpit hair and can surely cause the armpit to stink.
-
Shaving your armpit hair:
This is a cultural or religious argument, for some, caring for the armpit does not include shaving the pit hair, for others it is mandatory. Armpit hair grows during puberty and is the first sign of maturity, it also helps as sex signals because it transmits the scents needed for mating. Yet, a lot of people are grossed about exposing their unshaved armpits hair to the public as it triggers disgust when sighted.
