The Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, alongside the National Theatre and some power plants under National Integrated Power Plants are among the key national assets Federal Government has concluded plans to sell.
The Director-General had stated in The Nation Newspaper, that the purpose of the proposed sale is to create extra revenue to finance the country’s annual budgets for the next three years (2018-2020).
This he told members of the House of Representatives, he claimed that it would be used to supplement the deficit found in 2018 budget, N2.005 trillion, as the items for the budget would be financed from the income revenue gathered from the sales of the key government assets, such as TBS and national parks.
The country, he expressed, was generating too little revenue, hence, it was expedient to borrow.
The question on everyone’s lip is: what happens when all national artefacts are sold, what do we rely on?
