Gospel Act, Lily Perez Records Love Song, Denies Changing Genre

By Nelson Odu Lily Perez is a young gospel artiste who started her gospel career in Abuja before relocating to Lagos with her producer and hubby, VC Perez. After releasing a couple of gospel songs that received minor attention, the pretty faced singer has recorded her first love song. When asked if she was switching from gospel to secular music; her response was an emphatic no. “Why would I do that, I am a gospel singer and will always sing about God, about his might and love for man. The truth is this, the bible tells us that God is Love and Love is God. I am not surprise you are asking me this question because I know you are reacting to today’s world that has turned love to filth. Singing about love is a different thing from shake your bum bum and all that.” Lily said. So, what then is the idea behind her love song? “I recorded this song as a gift for every Nigerian woman. You know in our part of the world women hardly appreciate their husbands openly, that is why I felt I should record this song to serve as a medium that the women can use in appreciating their husbands. When I release the song in days to come you will hear all the great things that I said about the great husbands in our country.”
