Following a previous announcement of her play store revamp, Google has further announced that more features will be added to the new app. One is the listing feature, where developers will have the opportunity to list all their assets “front and centre”. This implies that developers will have more space for their products in the store.
The redesign will make more use of app screenshots, videos and descriptions. According to the company, this feature will be more applicable in larger-screened devices like tablets and foldable. Google says this improvement will help android users decide to download apps on the store.
Enhancing the Chromebook experience is also given priority in this new upgrade, as developers will be able to upload Chromebook-specific screenshots in the Play Console.
Google says it is uploading tablet quality guidelines to maintain consistency across larger screens. While using the recommended dimensions of 1080-7690px and 16:9 landscape, Google seeks to make relative improvements in the quality of uploads.
Recall an earlier revamp on the play store, where users were offered the chance to filter search results by device. This feature is a welcome upgrade, as non-phone devices like TVs, smartwatches and cars can also have access to download apps from the store.
