The wait is finally over. After days of suspense and back and forth haggling by consumers as to what the N in Android N will be, Google has finally announced N as Nougat, so we now have Android Nougat.
In keeping with their tradition of naming Android releases by dessert inspired names, Google had earlier opened up the floor on this particular release to her consumers to submit names of desserts that start with letter N, to guide them in choosing the name for Android N. The previous release was named Android Marshmallow.
Consumers had a fun time submitting names and we kept our fingers crossed over here in Nigeria, wishing it will be called Nkwobi but alas it’s Android Nougat. Nougat is a family of desserts made with sugar or honey, roasted nuts, whipped egg whites and candied fruit and is said to originate from Spain.
Now we just have to wait until Android Nougat is actually released sometime later in the year.
