President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan commissioned the Akwa-Ibom International Olympic Sized Stadium today. The stadium, which is a 30,000 capacity ultra modern complex that is already regarded as the best in the West African region and compared with South Africa’s Soccer city, is truly a magnificent sight to behold.Modelled after the Allianz Arena in Germany, the home ground of reigning German Champions Bayern Munich, the Stadium boasts a 4-tier, covered, seating terrace, all-natural grass, high-tech floodlights and security cameras, 36 emergency exits, bullet proof VVIP and VIP along with other ultra-modern facilities.The stadium opened today, November 7 at 3pm, with a friendly match between long time rivals, Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana and notable dignitaries from all over in attendance.
