Do you remember when Nigeria’s home-based Eagles utterly crushed Niger Republic in the first game of their 2016 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) campaign, in Kigali, Rwanda?

We sure do.

Prince Aggre all but opened scoring for Nigeria less than one minute into the game, but Niger goalie, Alzouma Inoussa, stopped the player’s goal bound low shot.

In another 6 minutes, Idrissa Garba, tried to send Niger to the scoreboard via a lob shot over Nigerian goalie, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, but his effort was stopped by the quick-witted goaltender.

Nigeria’s home eagles had the better chances to get on the scoreboard in the first half of the game, but the players were unable to complete any of their many efforts at a goal.

After the restart, the Eagles changed their game, with Nigeria taking the lead 30 seconds into the second half, via Osas Okoro, assisted by Tunde Adeniji.

In the 58th minute, the Eagles made their second change in the half, with Chisom Chikatara coming in for Adeniji.

Nigeria continued the assault on the Niger team, however, unsuccessful.

In the 74th minute, Chikatara doubled Nigeria’s lead in a stunning fashion. The player took a long ball to the chest, before sending a shot straight into the back of the net.

At this point the game got even more interesting when Adje Adebayor sent a shot flying past Ezenwa to reduce the goal deficit.

In the 82nd minute Chikatara, sent another shot into the Niger’s net restoring Nigeria’s two-goal lead.

Three minutes into the extra time, Chikatara completed his hat-trick, ending the game for Nigeria, 4-1.
