If not for anything, the fact that your country is part of the top 32 football nations on earth is something worthy to be happy about. However, qualifying for the World Cup is never an easy task, nations have to pull through tough series of matches to book a ticket for the global showpiece. Pitched alongside Zambia, Cameroon, and Algeria in the Group B of the 2018 qualifiers, Nigeria was surely in the group of death, but a string of decent performances saw the Super Eagles on top of the Group with 10 points from four games. On October 7, 2017, the John Obi Mikel captained Eagles filed out against Zambia in a filled to the brim Godswill Akpabio Stadium of Uyo. The Nigerian Football Supporters Club did not disappoint as they were coloured in green white green (colours of the Nigerian flag) to drum their support for the three times African champions. While some Nigerians expected the game to be a goal feast, the Zambians were not in for a joke and held their own for 73 minutes of the game before a Shehu Abdullahi cross met Alex Iwobi well to gift the Super Eagles the lead. Iwobi’s goal would make the difference between both sides as Nigeria went on to win the game 1-0 and qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup with a game to spare.
