Cracked heels also known as ‘heel fissures’ is a common health problem caused by dryness of the foot skin and accumulation of dead skin on the soles of the feet. In extreme cases of cracked heels, the cracks may get deep and cause pain when walking, running or standing. Banana and avocado
Slice a whole ripe banana, then half of an avocado. Blend them together in a blender or food processor, blend until a thick paste is formed.
Scoop the banana and pear paste into a plate. Gently rub the paste onto your cracked heel and other cracked areas leave on for 15-20 minutes, wash off with warm water.
Aloe vera
Start off with soaking your feet in warm water for 5 mins, dry your feet with a towel then apply the aloe vera gel on your dry heels, wear socks and leave overnight
Healing Oils
Oils are natural moisturizers and are efficient for cracked heels. Massage the heels with varieties of oils, it increases the rate at which the skin softens.
These oils will include coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, castor oil, sesame oil, Shea butter ( you can melt to extract oil)
Massage the heels thoroughly for about 5 mins, then put on socks and leave overnight.
Lemon juice and honey
Lemon juice penetrates deep into the layers of the skin making it soft and smooth. Honey also has excellent moisturizing properties.
Soak feet in a mixture of lemon juice and honey for 20 minutes, then scrub gently with a pumice stone, rinse with water and pat dry with a towel.
