Ibadan is the capital of Oyo state and the city is known for her unusually large size. Ibadan houses over 3.5 million people and is the third most populous city in Nigeria. One of the most striking things about Ibadan is her people who work tirelessly from dawn till dusk. The main occupation of Ibadan people is agriculture and trading. One would expect that after doing so much work, they will have time for relaxation. This is true as Ibadan people have an insatiable appetite for good food.   1. Lafun and ewedu: This is the most popular meal eaten by the people of Ibadan. Lafun is made from cassava flour while ewedu is a local soup made from vegetables. The two are eaten together hot as an inseparable combination much to the delight and enjoyment of the Ibadan people. It is mostly eaten in the afternoon or night after work with assorted meat or goat meat.

  2. Moin-moin and eko: This is another powerful food combo of Ibadan people. Moin-moin can either be cooked with palm oil or groundnut oil and is made from beans, while eko is made from corn. It is mainly eaten in the morning as breakfast before they go out to work. It is a balanced diet as it contains all the classes of food.
  3. Snails: Snails are a popular staple in Ibadan, one can find it morning, afternoon or night. The snails are well prepared and garnished with a lot of pepper and onions to make it palatable and enjoyable. However, snails can be quite expensive during the dry season and may not be as plenteous as it is during the rainy season.
