Former US President, George Bush to Address African First Ladies At Summit

The 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush, will give a keynote speech at the African First Ladies Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from July 2 to July 3. He will be joined by his wife and former first lady of the United States, Laura Bush, and they will speak about issues and roles that African first ladies should play to empower women across the continent. The theme of the summit is, “Investing in Women: Strengthening Africa”. A statement released by the US Consulate-General in Lagos, on the summit states that, “Investing in women results in better outcome for entire families, communities and nations. The summit will highlight first ladies as advocates for women’s economic empowerment, health and education. It will bring together African first ladies, government officials, academics and private organisations, to discuss best practices of empowering women in their communities.”
