Barter by Flutterwave is a digital payments solution that allows users to create virtual dollar debit cards. This is especially useful for people who wish to pay for subscription services (Apple Music, Deezer, web hosting, etc.) and people that shop online on international stores.
The parent company, Barter, is an American online payments company that generates MasterCard virtual cards. Thanks to Flutterwave’s virtual card API and platform, users in Africa will be able to create and fund virtual cards from their local bank accounts in Nigerian Naira, Ghanaian Cedis, Kenyan Shilling or US Dollars.
The barter platform used to be entirely web-based, but Flutterwave has launched a mobile app on iOS and Android, that makes it really easy to enjoy the benefits of Barter plus some extra financial management tools.
With the new Barter app, you can:
- Manage payments and subscriptions.
- Send money to friends near you easily.
- Have full control over how much you’re spending.
- Save up for a project or a business.
- Get detailed reports that show your spending patterns.
- Apply for repayable short-term loans
Flutterwave is launching the app with some catchy promotions. When you add your Barter virtual card to your Uber app (Naira or Dollar), you get 0.5% cash-back after every ride.
You can place a request to send money to any number saved on your phone. You can also create multiple dollar cards for all your subscriptions (Spotify, Uber, Amazon Prime, Heroku, and so on).
According to Flutterwave, Barter’s Standard plan is free for everyone, but anyone who wants to enjoy bigger and better rewards can upgrade to the Barter Select plan for N175 a month. Quite very affordable if you ask me.
To enjoy all these benefits, download the Barter app on the iOS app store and Google Play.
