The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that the President of World Football’s governing body FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and the body’s secretary, Fatima Samoura, will embark on a two-day working visit to Nigeria, which is to begin on July 24.

Information about the planned visit by FIFA’s top officials was made public via the NFF’s website. The announcement quoted NFF President Amaju Pinnick as saying that Infantino and Samoura will be paying a courtesy visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa; the two are also expected to meet with the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, and also watch the finals of the NFF/Zenith Bank Future Eagles Championship. The FIFA President and Secretary General are also scheduled to attend a session with members of Nigeria’s business community.

The visit of the FIFA officials is said to have been confirmed by Infantino after he met with the NFF President in Paris, France, on Sunday. The trip to Nigeria comes almost five months after he was elected President at a general assembly meeting in February 2016.

Fatima Samoura, Secretary General of FIFA, is also the first woman to have held that position since the organisation was founded more than a century ago.
