FIFA has approved Nigeria Football Federation’s request to move the dates of two 2014 World Cup qualifiers in June.
FIFA had adjusted Nigeria’s qualifiers ahead of their Confederations Cup matches in June, but the NFF implored the World’s football governing body to switch other matches in Group F to the same dates, citing their opponents would earn an unfair advantage.
As a result, FIFA has now moved all the group fixtures to 5th and 12th June.
Super Eagles’ 2014 World Cup qualifying fixtures against Kenya and Namibia have been moved forward a week from the 8th and 15th respectively to enable them participate in this year’s Confederation Cup.
Nigeria will represent Africa in the tournament in Brazil, where they will face World Champions Spain, Copa America champions Uruguay, and the minnows; Tahiti. The competition kicks off on 15 June.
Nigeria currently sits at the summit of their qualifying group ahead of Malawi on goal difference – although both teams have five points from a possible nine.
