The Federal government has given state governments the jurisdiction to act independently and separately on the issue of power in order to improve power supply in the nation.
This he believes does not contravene the stipulated laws of Electricity Power Sector Reforms Act. Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Raji Fashola, at a meeting in Kano, at the 18
th monthly power sector operators meeting, said that interested states should obtain necessary permits and licenses from Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) depending on what the states wish to invest in.
He is certain that there has been an improvement in power generation since 2015. Although he enumerated that destruction of pipelines, the inability of distribution companies to take on power and old assets as some of the setbacks power supply experiences.
In all, he hopes every part of the value chain to contribute in operating efficiently.
