Facebook Rocks Video; Adds View Counts and Other Tweaks
Mary Odunuga
Facebook, the world’s largest social network with over 1.15 billion monthly active users is out to prove to the world and advertisers alike that YouTube will not be the only site with massive video engagements online. The social network is delivering a billion video views per day with view counts on publicly posted videos from users, pages and public figures.
This is quite a significant move by Facebook because with this, it might be able to convince advertisers to choose Facebook when deliberating over video options. Facebook has accelerated its efforts to make sure they are convinced.
Between May and July of this year, Facebook recorded an over 50% growth in video views. Also in mobile video views, Facebook recorded more than a 65% growth during the same period. With the view counts on its videos, it will help both advertisers and the general public get a better measure of what videos are performing particularly well.
Other tweaks that have been added to its video offering include improvements to video rankings within news feeds. For publishers, there are detailed metrics such as the Call to Action, which allows content creators to invite people to visit a website after the video ends to learn more, watch more or make a purchase.
These tweaks can appeal to businesses, SMEs, movie producers and other related industries to serve the need of connecting their social network Facebook site to their website pages and help them better evaluate what will interest their prospective customers.
Great video content is now being created and shared on Facebook ranging from on-the-ground reporting from media organizations to exclusive releases and behind-the-scenes videos from public figures.
You can make use of it too.
