Etisalat’s Flash Fiction Award Now Open for Entries

IF you are able to weave super-short stories into existence and pen them down in a way that captivates readers, Etisalat’s Flash Fiction contest is probably the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to get recognized for your talent. There’s also prize money to be won.

The Etisalat Flash Fiction Award is a continent-wide contest which aims to promote the creative work of African writers, and popularize the flash fiction genre in a world that has become fast paced and less given to reading lengthy literature. The public also gets to play a part in determining the eventual winners by participating in the voting process. The winning author will receive £ 1,000 (a thousand pounds), and a high end device. £ 500 (five hundred pounds) will be awarded to two runner ups. The top 50 stories will be published as e-books by Okadabooks.com, and published print books, if available, will also be distributed at the award ceremony.

To enter the contest, click here to submit a short story of no more than three hundred words. Intending entrants have until October 14 to send in their stories. Finalists will be announced on January 11 following voting by the public, and winners made known at the Award Ceremony slated for March 2017.
